Doug, the link I posted in post #24 was not done by the John Birch Society. But what if it was? You need to listen to the message and not condemn the messenger. These are clips with Newt speaking out of Newts mouth. Newt can be whoever you want him to be. I thought you were above that type of gullibility.
More and more of these accusations against Newt turn out to be false.
Again, how can they be false when we see Newt speaking the words?
The biggest reason to spread these lies is they have nothing good to say about their guy. How about you tell us why your candidate is so great if you can?
I support Ron Paul. If you cannot figure out why people support him, then I doubt you ever will.
After the last 3 years anyone who is ready to vote for Obama before he'd vote for any of the Republican Candidates has ZERO credibility in my book.
Come on Doug, I know you can comprehend what you read. First off, I said, "if it comes down to Newt or Obama and, I go by the philosophy that is prevelent in the GOP, that we must vote for the lesser of two evils, I would have to vote for Obama, because he is the lesser of two evils. After your last post, and seeing how you try to twist my words, I am wondering about your credibility. ;-)
I honestly wish Paul didn't have that nutty side to him. He would be my candidate 100% if he didn't. C'est la vie.
Of COURSE it matters who made the video. I wish it didn't matter but that's not reality.
My larger point was that there are alot of folks out there who have supported terrible GOP candidates in the past, who are now screaming that folks like me better not, ever, never, no way support Newt Gingrich now, or bad things could happen.
Kind of funny, given their own histories.
Of COURSE it matters who made the video.
How does it matter Jim who put together clips of Newt. It is Newt speaking. It is who Newt is.
I don't understand why "conservatives" view the executive branch as Caesar, the American people also view the president as Caesar, our current president views himself as Caesar, so did the "decider", if you look at Obama when he gives a speech can't you envision, like he assumes, that there is a crown upon his head.
He doesn't want to move his head too quickly other then the crown might fall off, then all you have to do is look at his actions, his presidential decrees, his Libya war, his fast and furious.
"Congress, (the roman senate} is mired in a stalemate we must have action, I'm Caesar, I'm here to show you the way. " My executive branch will show the way, I know best.
Why does a nation with 50 states and completely different demographics need an omnipotent leader, where is the senate, where is the house, what of the judicial, where is the county, the towns, cities, the individuals?
Why do "conservatives" fear the republic and want to elect a Caesar?
In your wildest imaginations can you imagine Ron Paul as a Caesar? and yet That is exactly what some "conservatives" want, a Caesar, I look at Ron Paul as a VETO, something that is sorely lacking these many decades.
Mike, that is an excellent point. I think it comes down to superstition. The American people have developed a nonsensical superstitious belief in some omnipotent "President" who will set all things right, if only he deigns to smile on us and take care of us. Comparing that vision that we have adopted of the Great God-President with what they usually turn out to be and do is..............well, we are slow learners, aren't we??
it is a sorry situation when the congress becomes a rubber stamp for the executive branch and visa versa
Annoy a Liberal, Vote NEWT!
Not a ton of substance, but certainly on the mark!
Annoy a real conservative, Vote NEWT, the green conservative/progresive! Newt can be everything for everyone.
Gingrich is now trying to cover up his progressive big government federal record. For example, when he is approached and asked why he hooked up with Carter in 1979 to create the federal department of education, the response is See: http://www.newt.org/answers#EdDept
When Newt voted for the creation of the Department of Education, the institution was only structured to provide research and collect data. Unfortunately, the bureaucracy ballooned, so while Speaker, Newt aggressively campaigned to pare down the Department back to its appropriate role and return power to the states.
But the truth is, 17 years after he helped Carter create the united States Department of Education, he voted in 1996 for the largest increase in federal funding for the department for functions other than to provide research and collection of data. What he voted to finance was:
- $6.64 billion for student financial assistance.
- $6.05 billion for education for the disadvantaged.
- $3.25 billion for special education.
This flimflamming con artist is also on record supporting the No Child Left Behind Act. So, when we are told at Gingrich’s web site that he aggressively campaigned to pare down the Department back to its appropriate role, his voting record 17 years after the creation of the department contradicts the BS he is now panhandling!
Health care by consent of the governed (Article 5) our amendment process --- tyranny by a majority vote in Congress or a Supreme Court's progressive majority vote
Newt has a new photo out with Chuck Norris, J.C. Watts, Fred Thompson, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, and Michael Reagan behind him..........all supporters. It's a very positive photo. It says a lot to me (http://www.newt.org/) To say nothing of the Palins.
His CPAC speech was simply outstanding: http://hotair.com/archives/2012/02/10/gingrich-speech-gets-conservatives...
Yeah, the schmuck has been married three times. And he took Fannie Mae money (although Romney continues to lie that he was a lobbyist).
But he's the best of the lot left. I'm sending him some $$.
Newt knows how to rally the people. He can adapt just like a chameleon. In Florida, he promises a moon colony. In South Carolina, he promises to dredge the harbor. In the corn belt, Newt promises more subsudies for ethanol. Get the drift. Newt can be everything for everyone, and he will rule from the moon colony so he can look down on the minions.
VERY interesting take on the GOP contests to date (including Maine), and where Newt stands now:
I have a hard time trying to figure just what Newt stands for, besides what is best for Newt
