North of Bangor Podcast: Kevin Raye Talks About Mike Michaud, ObamaCare, & Everything Else

I had the opportunity to sit down with Kevin Raye at Amato's Pizza in Presque Isle on Monday, and we talked about his candidacy for the US House of Representatives. He is headed for a primary next week, and hopes to run against long-time incumbent Mike Michaud.
Just some of the topics he addressed: the federal deficite, bailouts, healthcare, usurpation of congressional powers by the President and of House powers by the Senate, illegal wars, and how he differs from Mike Michaud.
On ObamaCare:
“We have a President who worked with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to ram through ObamaCare because they had the votes. They had the votes to do it, so they drove it down the throats of the Republicans; they drove it down the throats of an unwilling public. And it really, I think, established a very bitter, negative tone in Washington that now permeates everything, and our current Congressman, frankly, has done nothing to improve the situation.”

i applaud michelle anderson for another superb interview. thank you for new insight into senate president kevin raye. his interview has persuaded me to vote for him on primary election day june 12th.
mr. roger ek has written many wise comments on asmainegoes.com. it therefore saddens me to read his post above, the likes of which seem to be coming more and more from mr. ek. practice makes perfect? i confess i do not understand the mind that condemns a man for but a single action out of hundreds of actions solely because the mind disagrees.
is president raye a signatory of the letter which so troubles mr. ek? No, president raye is not a signatory. but let one of eight signatories speak well of senator raye - and that is sufficient for mr. ek to dismiss the whole man and all his good works.
i wonder what is like to be as pure as mr. ek.
Beyond being stern legislator, Raye has reputation for community loyalty

Mainers are used to seeing Kevin Raye as...buttoned-down Republican State Senate president.
[H]is former church pastor sees him differently[:] a family-oriented man who never forgot where he came from or missed church while he was in town.
"When they have a yard sale, he's there. ...special services, he's there. When...were (refurbishing) the church, he was there," said Margaret O'Mally of Calais.... "When they get together to help someone in the community, he's there."

I just got a robo-call supporting him from one of the "gang of eight" who attacked Paul LePage. Birds of a feather stick together.
Vote for Blaine Richardson next Tuesday. He supports our platform and our Constitution.
