The Obama Administration’s Uranium One Scandal

SOURCE

Not only the Clintons are implicated in a uranium deal with the Russians that compromised national-security interests
_____________________________________________________________________________

Finally (here, at least), the uranium deal is being properly attributed. The head and sub-headlines are the topic.

Like most news, uranium stories have come deliberately incomplete and fractured by slant and sources. I hope this link fills in some cracks and paints a clearer picture. It does for me.

Of particular interest is the cast of characters who likely knew a lot, have said nothing and are now leading the 'investigation' into Trump's collusion with Russia. Glow-gate was supposed to go away with that woman, Mrs. Clinton's, coronation. Now, or so it appears, it only goes away if Trump's investigators find something to blackmail him with.

When are Sessions and the

When are Sessions and the rest of the Trump Administration going to lift the gag order on the FBI's Confidential informant? When are they going to force the FBI to turn over subpoenaed documents? FOIA requests from Tom Fitton?

I don't understand the delay.

Yeah, Taxfoe, I was wondering

Yeah, Taxfoe, I was wondering what the proper liberal defense should be concerning this issue that looks really bad for any American to be associated with.

Uh, you're just a bias hater. What about Trump and his locker room talk. You hate people of color, don't you? (in this case red)?

Sorry all of that was kind of lame but I don't have much experience in being a total snowflake moron.

JW President Tom Fitton: DOJ & FBI Knew of Clinton/Russia Deal in Exchange for Uranium Stockpiles

It's short, so watch the whole thing. Fitton doesn't say Sessions is involved but he makes clear that he isn't helping.

JW in the headline is Judicial Watch. As it becomes harder and harder for me to believe anyone, I still believe in these guys. I chose that clip because it's short and to tommclaughlin and Ugenetoo's points. There are plenty more where that one came from.

I’ll wager that when this is all said and done ,there won’t be one single indictment. Not because it didn’t happen simply because no one has the courage to make it happen.

I don't know, Matt. I have

I don't know, Matt. I have it on second hand info that U1 has never applied for an export license. It's reasonable to assume they wouldn't get one if they applied and it is unknown if they acquired or could benefit from a pre existing license. Probably not. If you've done the research, maybe you could shed some light.

They own 20% of our yellow

They own 20% of our yellow cake. They are either taking it out of the USA or storing it somewhere. Most companies storing industrial materials pay for the storage of said materials. Any guesses as to who receives that revenue stream?

The deal was the the uranium

The deal was the the uranium stayed in the US. According to a statement by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission:

NRC’s review of the transfer of control request determined that the U.S. subsidiaries will remain the licensees, will remain qualified to conduct the uranium recovery operations, and will continue to have the equipment, facilities, and procedures necessary to protect public health and safety and to minimize danger to life or property. The review also determined that the licensees will maintain adequate financial surety for eventual decommissioning of the sites. Neither Uranium One nor ARMZ holds an NRC export license, so no uranium produced at either facility may be exported.

Indeed that is a good point.

Indeed that is a good point. Looks like uranium went to processing to Canada but "most" has been returned. Certainly pretty sketchy.

Seems like a failure of the regulatory agency. Not necessarily Clinton or the Obama administration.

But it also seems like the right is pretty intent on indicting Clinton on charges. Seems like an obvious (but twisted) quid pro quo for the Trump Russian ties.

Trump called it a modern Watergate today. He's also said ridiculous stuff like this: "Remember that Hillary Clinton gave Russia 20 percent of American uranium and, you know, she was paid a fortune. You know, they got a tremendous amount of money." That statement is certainly a wild exaggeration.

I think in this case it is important to remember that there were NINE other departments that had to sign off on this deal. And that Jose Fernandez, the assistant secretary of state for economic, energy and business affairs under Clinton was the one who actually signed off on it, not Clinton.

The real issue is whether or not the state department knew of the FBI's investigations into Russia's attempts to gain influence in the US nuclear industry. But the assistant FBI director claims not to have known about it, and so it is very unlikely that Clinton would have known about it either.

Mark my words. This investigation goes nowhere. Those of you who are still obsessed with Clinton will be disappointed.

Clinton Foundation got $23M

Clinton Foundation got $23M from donors connected to the UraniumOne deal.
Bill Clinton got $500K for one speech, paid by one of the principals.
That's just the start.
And remember, THIS scandal has NOT been previously investigated.

@Toolsmith

Where did you get that $23M figure from? I read that the initial figure (like the one that Trump claimed) was $145M but then it was found that the bulk of that money was donated in 2007. So the figure that I saw was more like $4M.

Again, Clinton didn't actually make that decision for the state department (and it was made with 9 other departments). That kinda takes the air out of the big conspiracy. The big question is whether or not Clinton knew about Russian efforts to influence the American nuclear industry through various corrupt schemes.

I guess we will see. My suspicion is that the investigation will go nowhere. Just as I believe that the Trump investigation will also go nowhere.

@Mainelion

Isn't Trump the smartest person to run for president? At least, according to him?

Here is his tweet from the other day: "I think the press makes me more uncivil than I am… I went to an Ivy League college… I'm a very intelligent person."

Here are some more proving just how freaking intelligent this guy is...

In Forbes (about Tillerson): "I think it's fake news, but if he did that, I guess we'll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win."

"We have by far the highest IQ of any Cabinet ever assembled!" (January 19, 2017)

"@ThisNBAgirl: @realDonaldTrump You are not as smart as Mark Cuban, no matter what you think. Keep to what you know. Lets do an I.Q. test!" (March 18, 2013)

"@davidpylejr: @realDonaldTrump @edincamera2 @alphatreblesix you're not really smart Mr. Trump, you're an F-ing genius!" I.Q. tests confirm!" (April 20, 2013)

"I know some of you may think l'm tough and harsh but actually I'm a very compassionate person (with a very high IQ) with strong common sense" (April 21, 2013)

"@gharo34: @realDonaldTrump Not only is your IQ somewhere between Barack Obama and G.W.Bush...but you're entertaining!"Much higher than both" (April 30, 2013)

"Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest -and you all know it! Please don't feel so stupid or insecure,it's not your fault" (May 8, 2013)

"@NJWineGeek: @realDonaldTrump but Jon Stewart has a much higher IQ. Wrong, Jon Stewart(?) is an obnoxious lightweight with a lower I.Q." (May 8, 2013)

"@samflaherty_: @realDonaldTrump I'd bet my life savings Obama has a higher IQ than you" You would lose!" (May 8, 2013)

"@RealCoachHodge: @realDonaldTrump has a much higher IQ than idiot John Stewart" That's true, and by a lot." (May 22, 2013)

"@Cokokkola: @realDonaldTrump has a much higher IQ than idiot Lord Sugar- that's why he has much more money!" True on both fronts!" (May 26, 2013)

"I'm much smarter than them. I think I have a much higher IQ. I think I went to a better college — better everything." (November 23, 2015)

"@ajodom60: @FoxNews and as far as that low-info voter base goes, I have an IQ of 132. So much for that theory. #MakeAmericaGreatAgain" (December 13, 2015)

"Let's do an IQ test." (May 16, 2016)

Great link, Toolsmith. And thank you, Claudius, for confirming what I had only heard 2nd hand even though it turns out we're all wrong.

And thank you, NYT, for 'reporting' 25% and Western Europe. 25% of what and could we be a little less vague on when or where to.

One need only read one thing

One need only read one thing that Trump said in order to determine how smart he is:

"I Donald J. Trump, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God."
