Stimulus Report Adds Fuel to Fight on Jobs
By LOUISE RADNOFSKY And COREY BOLES
Recipients of economic-stimulus money said 599,108 workers were being paid by the funds in the last quarter of 2009....
The administration could face difficulty explaining how the reports square with its...calculations...the plan kept between 1.5-2.0 million jobs in the economy...
Those projections...try to include...jobs exist[ing] indirectly as a result of people...hired to work on stimulus projects, or...people receiving food stamps/other aid funded by the stimulus...

How many non-government or public sector jobs have been created , in Maine from the stimulus money? The key word being created. I can't think of one business that has started up with obamabucks.
Can anyone one list them or start a list along with the number of employees?
The non-profit my sister in-law works for in Portland gave out raises with the money. To the best of my knowledge there have been no private sector jobs created, especially any permanent ones. So why spend more if 800 billion didn't do the trick what makes them think another 100 billion will make the difference.
It's governmental thinking - make a PERMANENT increase with ONE TIME funds.
These people are incapable of thinking about finances logically.

Not non government jobs, but the Portland Jetport manager felt it important to tell the Portland City Council last Monday that the expansion project would create 90 to 100 constuctions jobs for 22 months. He emphasized that these were not made up compilations but real jobs of people doing the building work. Other people will be employed from side work.

Steven thank you. The count stands at 90, maybe.

Or, here's an even scarier thought - maybe they know exactly what they're doing... creating permanent spending programs with "temporary" money. Which they know darned well will have to be later replenished, since now, gee, those jobs exist.

It's hard to "create" jobs when you pay people to not work.
