Navy to skip Maine Lobster Festival
By Shlomit Auciello
The Herald Gazette Reporter

ROCKLAND (July 3): The U.S. Navy has sent a ship to the Maine Lobster Festival for more than three decades...

Sen. Snowe notified the Maine Lobster Festival organization the tradition has come to an end...

Citing operational and homeland security demands, Capt. C.T. Mueller, the Navy's director of public affairs said such visits were being cut back. "Only port visits associated with operational requirements or that have minimal fuel consumption impact are being approved," Mueller said.

So lets see we can't have the Navy visit the people who pay their way, but we can fly the first family around on date nights, overseas trips. And don't forget the travel our elected officials and families take, what a bunch of hypocrites. I wonder if this policy will affect air shows etc.

And don't forget that Air Force One photo-op flyover in NYC that frightened so many people. Between that and O's pizza deliveries from St. Louis, we're footing the bill for the family of O, but let the American taxpayers' traditions die. Damn them.
