I have been getting dozens of obnoxious calls by Romney with its introduction in Spanish. Finally after hanging up in disgust many many times I hung in there dialed the digit they suggested to donate and spoke with a live operator. I explained that I wanted to speak with a manager and after a small hassle got one. I explained to her that I was from Maine and that we might have a barely 1% Hispanic population and that this kind of robo call was doing more harm than good. It turns out that these originate from Restore America's Voice PAC in Texas. She claimed she did not know of the Spanish intro. I also look them up on the Internet and sent them an email regarding tis and a second one to Maine GOP.

It would seem that our society is more stupid than I thought. Why would a PAC do this without a strick policy to monitor the outgoing intro for quality and content. Or is this like push polling?

Our nation is still English in language and it gripes me no end that I have to listen to these intros in other than our own language. If our country is so good they want to come here, then learn our language and our culture and not try to bring yours with you. Rant over!

What does Vonage have that prevents calls being sent to your number. Don't you have a number like any telephone? What these groups do is have a computer dial 0000 thru 9999 and if you answer then the call is switched to a short recording and then a live operator or sometimes ask you to dial a specific digit. There are several methods that are used. I doubt that just because you have Vonage you are missed.

When any political campaign, even one for a candidate I support, gives me a robo call, they are doing worse than wasting their money. Robo calls just pi__ me off!

Half of the time, I'm busy doing something when the phone rings. I hustle to the phone, sometimes tracking mud or sand into the house (which I have to clean up later). When I find out it's just a robo call, I'm mad. I press the #key 15 or 20 times, because I heard that messes up their equipment. (Probably it doesn't, but I can hope, can't I?)

I think there ought to be a convenient way to opt out of ALL robo calls! Technology could easily provide that, but our politicians would never support it.

For the same reason a Republican Pac would advertise for Cynthia Dlil. An Angus win would be a disaster for Maine. Dingy as she is, Dill is actually to the right of Angus who is a round the bend, gonzo radical green.

As far as I know vonage doesn't have anything special. Maybe they have a spam blocker at headquarters that figures out its a robocall and blocks it. Maybe the robo calls dont dial my exchange. 207-xxx- I duno.

All I know is I've never got a telemarketer or political call.

Roger, I understand the reasoning behind the Dill ads by a PAC. What I question is a PAC paying such good money and not checking the output carefully to see that it was not offensive to those you are trying to reach. In this communications orientated society I cannot see such easily corrected mistakes being made.

Caller ID works for me. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer. If it's someone who really wants to speak to me badly enough, they'll call back.

Well this conservative PAC is no better than all the rest. It has been a week since they said they would contact me and all I hear is crickets. It really appears that these power players are all alike and we the little people better just shut up and pay the piper.
