Observations of Downeast.Following a weekend trip to Lubec I offer these.

There is enough scrap metal in yards along Rt 1 to support a war effort.

Is there a award program for the most derelict lobster boats in a yard ?

Machis is a metropolis .

Helens' Resturant is still the best !

If lower Main St. buildings in Lubec do continue falling into ocean there coud be an enviromental incident with Canada !

beyond Machias east, a "relatively" unspoiled coastline without a summer home every 100 feet.

I don't get out of Maine

I don't get out of Maine often, but when I do I am always reminded what a true economic backwater Maine is.Portland the shining star of Maine's bustling economy simply looks like sleepy coastal village......I'm currently outside of Cincinnati,in one of it's satellite "towns"......the building and the manufacturing is just crazy.....people look fat and happy.....Went to the Ark in Williamstown Ky yesterday,my brother in law is the head of project management there, they are just taking off. They've had 800,000 plus visitors in less than a year and are still under construction.....shooting for two million a year ,the whole area around them is growing....Meanwhile in Maine the forces of green and others fight prosperity to a halt.Driving across country to California....if I meet Alice in Kansas I'm sure she'll tell me I ain't in Maine anymore...lol

Matt whether you are a

Matt whether you are a believer or not matters not a bit ,the thing is an amazing piece of architecture....3.1 milliion board feet of lumber it is a full sizesd replica.....The workmanship is astounding......It has a zip line park with 6 miles of line.... but like most progressive critics you totally miss the point.....Maine's a big enough backwater so you could float dozens of arks...

Mattybubbles and his mate

Mattybubbles and his mate probably wouldn't have been marched on in two-by-two fashion.
Noah had standards.....
