On WCSH 6 a guy named Mark Millar from the CA$H Coalition (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) said they want to spread the word to the many Mainers who do not file for their EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) when filing income tax returns. He said that they "EARNED IT" and should get it from the IRS. Well, you don't earn welfare money and you don't get the money from the IRS...you take it from other citizens. To add insult to injury, this group is partially funded by an IRS Grant. We are using taxpayers money give more taxpayers money to those who can earn up to$48,000 per year.
The venerable Socialist propaganda organization AARP, is also pushing the EITC. To ease a person's sense of guilt, they continue to call this welfare program a "Refund" as in this quote from AARP..."A refundable credit is a tax credit that you can use to generate a refund even if you have no tax liability." Do I have to say that you cannot possibly get a refund for something you never paid!
Anyone who accepts EITC is on welfare and they may rightly be eligible for it but understand, it is welfare as provided by the government via the IRS (such a benevolent welfare agency that they are)
