I'm with you, Rufus.

Moderator's Note: Although Mr. LePage may think it's ok to use that word at a press conference, Scott has made it abundantly clear that it is NOT ok to use it on his forum. I have removed the thinly-disguised asterisked word. -- MA

Managers who get things done, seldomly mince words. He made his point, very precisely without equivocation. Go Paul!

I use that word daily, cause I deal with it daily.

The more the press goes after him with this "BS" the more people seem to like him. Going door-to-door I am finding that he has very strong support. He is truly a man of the people and they know it. At this point I don't think Libby and the press can derail this train.

This is going to be drip-drip-drip ...every piece of info they dug up.

The reporters are fully on board with this smear campaign. And it's going to get WORSE, they'll start with a little questioning items, then when they think they have established doubt, they'll drop the heavy artillery closer to the election.

Hang on to your seats.

The LePage response was in perfect synch with the public mood this year. I hope everyone in Maine sees this. Thank God the press is run by dithering morons who hype this as "A Bad Day for Candidate LePage":-) Imbeciles! It would cost a million dollars to get this out without the free press.

Doesn't anybody remember Reagan and the microphone in New Hampshire? Oh, I forgot, these are "graduates" of modern educational institutions. A real hoot.

I think for the people who are in tune with what is going on, the reporters are coming across as a bunch of jackals. Or jackasses.

There are different rules this year. They don't get it.

I have a hard time respecting reporters that complain about lack of access to LePage and then, when they get access, ask questions about his wife's real estate.

I hope the folks at Maine Public Broadcasting are working on a plan to replace the state funds that won't be included in Governor LePage's budget.

Still considering whether to cancel my membership.

Question: If Public Radio/TV provide such a valuable product, then
why do they need taxpayer subsidies?

Outrage LePate?!? Kinda catchy; "I'm voting for Outrage LePage".

Some of the reporters at the press conference were impolite, but that doesn't justify LePage's outburst. So you think this will get him votes? Dream on. If he can't handle a pack of pesky journalists, how is he going to handle the pressure of governing the state?

I agree with Mike that this slip of the tongue will not gain votes for LePage, but I don't see it as a big deal.

As for this blue collar guy, Paul's directness is somewhat endearing and refreshing. I'll bet that LePage points with his finger and not his knuckle, too, as the politically correct do.

One thing that you'll get from LePage....the unvarnished truth!

Governor Paul LePage=No More BS!

Wow I'm offended I never and I mean never have heard any of the people that I know use that word . Shocked I tell you SHOCKED! NOT! Go Paul..... that's exactly what I like about this guy his working class roots showing and not afraid to take someone on.
Where's the real offense? Paul saying it or the 30+ years worth of it that have emanated out of Augusta. Maybe the bumper sticker should be

'Tired of the BS????
Vote LePage"

The more I see of Lepage the more I Iike him, this guy impresses me as someone who can change state government and get it off the backs of Maine people.

Who was the reporter who kept pushing the question knowing it was getting under his skin - was that AJ?

LaPage started out fine, but when he continued to become more agitated at the question rather than end the session, he lost composure under fire. Sure this is a personal issue when his wife is now being drug into the fray. However, the body language of his aids, as they hung their heads and demonstrated no influence over his outburst, took on the appearance of rodeo clowns when a bull his thrown its rider. I’m not cheering for LaPage on this one.

The selection is now between a hot head (LaPage) and an air head (Mitchell).

LePage is correct. Lets focus on the issues..The question about his daughter is not only irrelevant and a cheap shot but an indicator of the true motives of the press. They want to destroy the Mayor, not report on him.

Watching the candidate continue to angrily respond after stating he wasn't going to speak on the topic was indicative of some real problems. Then the candidate shows up at another conference and drops some swears on the press?
That'll fire up the base but Maine voters usually vote for dignified candidates.
Caught this one from a movie last night where one lawyer is advising another after a lousy court altercation, "The job is to push their buttons, never let em push yours."

The press crossed the line when they asked about his daughter. Since Obama's kids off limits (and rightfully so) Why cant the Mayors be?

Although he could have reacted better, let's put this in context which gives LePage the benefit and the media the black eye:

The video is at the end of a long day which started in Bangor and had been uneventful to that point. He had been peppered by reporters with questions about his wife at stops in Bangor and Augusta prior to Portland. Obviously, he was getting tired of the bombardment. But, from what I understand, it was only when he got to Portland at the end of the day did a reporter suddenly bring his children into the mix with the out-of-leftfield question as to whether his wife owning a house in Florida allowed them to get instate-resident tuition rates at Florida State. It was to that that LePage uttered the BS response and moved on.

I think, considering his mannered responses earlier in the day to the questions about his wife and the homestead exemption, that he was reacting to the intrusion of his children into the questioning. My rule-of-thumb is that a candidate's kids are off-limits unless they're actively speaking out, are involved in a potential conflict-of-interest or they exhibit Lindsay Lohan behavior in public. Libby Mitchell did not explode when someone confronted her about backing the bowling alley exemption to the state sales tax almost concurrent with her son opening a Portland bowling alley; but, Libby has ice water in her veins and has no emotions. So, advantage LePage for wanting to protect his children's reputations.

Maybe the Maine voter is ready for authentic ...the current "dignified " winner has been an ineffective failure at growing Maine's economy or controlling the ever increasing cost of the dependency/ sancutary state mentality that he supports...... I like a guy who gets mad and is willing to let you know it.......personally I've know a lot of people who have "hot tempers" but they've got a lot of drive to go with it and they get things done.... I don't think the politics of compromise and deal making have paid big dividends over the last 30 years...

If the "hot head" has common sense, I'll take him. I'm sick of "air heads." Augusta is full of them.

The media thinks they're going to destroy LePage.

What they're really destroying is their credibility with the people who formerly didn't pay much attention to politics and are now the driving force behind the "Tea Party."

The video is at the end of a long day which started in Bangor and had been uneventful to that point.

This clip is in Augusta, not Portland... Brent Littlefield and the other "handlers" look lost and embarrassed (is Littlefield wearing cowboy boots? Was that Bruce Poliquin trailing behind in the hallway?)

That said, AJ clearly had too much bait on his hook for a fish as small as this one... throw it back... many voters will no doubt sympathize with, and may even be endeared to a candidate who has fought the strong arm of the revenuer as many of us have. Some will be watching what else may be dug up, but many others will be watching for how the candidates handle it. Paul might watch a few Chris Christie game films for pointers on how to temper the anger with a little humor.

Oh, this could be fun, if Billings is a closet PBS supporter then perhaps it is Big_Shooter who throws his extra cash to PETA, and The Distributist who purchases his copies of Skeptic Magazine in a brown wrapper. Which would make francisz a NOW member, and TomC a subscriber to Architectural Digest.

Any other AMG skeletons in the closet?
