"Point of Order - of course, there are absolutely no heterosexual practices between consenting adults (married or not) that someone else might find distasteful. None. Right?"

Irony aside, how many of us would seek to have these things mentioned in a public meeting, of if they were brought up, not attempt to answer such a questions in a quiet manner, rather than to the world at large? Or consider it an appropiate topic in discussing "families"?

Naran, what does it say to you that you think this to the the realm of PMs (and I agree), but the people in that meeting --a at least somewhat public meeting-thought that it should be discussed openly?

My objection is that I don't believe children should be getting this graphic information about ANY sex act from anyone other than his or her parents or those the parents wish to have do "the talk."

I see no logical reason for schools or other government institutions to conduct seminars on sexual "how-tos" of any kind. No tutorials on fisting. No demonstrations of seductive methods by which to apply condoms, no kama sutra.

Why is that so difficult for the left -- homo as well as heterosexual -- to grasp?

In the meantime, I am not condoning the practices being debated here, and quite frankly, I find the discussion to be one that is far better suited to PM's.

Exactly! Not in this public forum, and MOST ASSUREDLY not in the classroom or any other government venue where children are the audience.

Viking - I couldn't begin to tell you, since I never participate in anything of the kind.

All I can tell you, is that the specifics of the conversation don't belong on the open forum.

Again, this was a seminar that was voluntary. No one was forced to attend. There are some kids who don't have anyone to give them safe sex information. Is sex only disgusting when it is between same sex couples? Most sexual questions taken out of context would sound inappropriate.

As for the slams on gay families...typical.

I would hope and suppose the parents of the children who were invited to the seminar could take it upon themselves to keep it from happening again, if they didn't like it. At the very least, if nobody attended, it's likely the seminar wouldn't be repeated.

In the meantime, please keep lurid details of this kind to PM. That goes for both heterosexual and homosexual practices. This is not a locker room.

Thank you.

Exactly Naran. I did not hear any complaint from parents of the kids that attended. Do we only have optional safe sex heterosexual seminars?

Like I have also said...We plan on having the "talk" with our child. We will not wait for teachers to detail that information.

Which goes right back to one of my original observations...any resistance or objections, for whatever reason, is either bigotry or ignorance. That parents might resist the introduction of homosexuality to their children under the guise of teaching about "families" is not considered reasonable.

Homosexuals could not manage this measure of discretion from the outset, hence the issue at all. The flamboyant libertine Oscar Wilder proves there is hope for even the most homosex-obsessed sufferer.

Charolette, I have an assumption that you are in real life a female but just for clarification, you aren't a male that likes to be called by a feminine gendered name are you?
Secondly, assumiing you are female, I am glad that you and your child's father will sit down together with her when the time comes to explain those little questions.

Okay, VS, I'm open-minded and flatly curious: Assuming that this forum is a place where it's still safe to call a spade a spade and that it's still possible to use the English language to distinguish between a hawk and a handsaw, what is KennyRoberts' quote below expressing if not either bigotry or ignorance?

gay families
that is an oxymoron

Sorry 3 if by wire. I don't understand the question. What is it that you are either saying or asking?

Why? Do we not want people to know what homosexuality is all about? Homosexuals want to force acceptance upon us, but do not want us to know what homosexuality is all about? And Charlotte, it not about love.

By the way, how is that Henry St. So. Portland murder trial coming?

AMG’s not the forum for being explicit about sexual practices. If posters will please keep that in mind I will reopen this thread. To the degree points here can be made without reference to specific sexual practices - I thank you in advance. If you’re convinced there’s no way around mentioning a sexual practice - check first with me, Naran, or Michelle. Maybe one of us can come up with a better idea.

As always, feel free to PM or email me with any questions/comments.

Thank you.

Well, it could be an opinion rooted in the belief that the hetrosexual nuclear family is the basic definition of "family".

It could be a recognition of thousands of years of human experience.

But that is a question better poised to Kenny and not to me, don't you think? I would be only guessing at his motivation, and he can defend himself adequately (assuming a defense is actually needed).

Just wondering what the latest news is. Have the petitions been certified by the SOS yet?

After we submit petitions, the SOS has 30 days to review them and validate 55,087 of them.

Thus far, the gay marriage repeal supporters have channeled a little more than $190,000 to National Petition Management Inc., a group that organizes citizen initiatives and pays circulators to gather signatures. Mutty says his group already has gathered the 55,000 signatures needed to place the gay marriage question on the November ballot. He says paying out-of-staters to gather petitions is becoming increasingly common.

Charlotte -
Please tell us this is any different than same-sex marriage proponents having staff travel to Maine since LD 1020 was first introduced?
How is this different from HRC sending people here from out of state to do phone banks, house to house visits, lobby legislators, etc.?
Or funding AND staff from GLAD?
Shall we go on?

Stop the deception, please.

We will gladly ask for and recieve help from anyplace to stop the changes INITIATED by out of state GLAD, HRC, etc. Their forces came to Maine and you know it. This is a national campaign that THEY brought to Maine.

petitions signed by Mainers. Will all the votes cast on the marriage bill belong to Maine long term residents or will we also have "visiting residents?"
