PPH Nutty anti-gun spin?

Has anyone noticed that the PPH seems to be on an anti-gun tear since the election. We have had Nemitz editorialize,

http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/nemitz/061201nemitz.html

yesterday had a story about the rise in 'gun crimes'

http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/local/061202drugs.html

At least they mention the cause, the Maine drug problem.

Today we get a piece by Nancy Grape on Colombine, a really old story.
MANY REASONS

Easy answers blame guns. They blame boredom, video games, uninvolved parents, student cliques and teenagers hungry for attention -- when all of these -- and more -- may be part of this complex problem.

"It is long past time to have a serious national conversation about gun violence. We owe it to our children," Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence declared recently. And the group is almost right. The conversation needs to be about guns and a whole lot more. It needs to focus on violence -- particularly teenage violence -- whatever weapons it uses.
I wonder if pur gun grabbers see the last election as a new opportunity to try to steal our fundemental rights again, as they have tried so often before?

From the Maine Constitution;
Section 16. To keep and bear arms. Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned.
For the definition of never, look here.

Now you say, they can change the Constitution. Wouldn't that be questioning your right to keep and bear arms?

This is one of the biggest reasons not to vote for any democrat. They as a party are anti-gun and they will try to take yours away if they can.

Perhaps if TPTSNBN would learn the following:
The problem with gun violence isn't guns. The problem is violent people. A person predisposed to violence can just as easily use a baseball bat or a kitchen knife to harm or kill his victim. But a violent person's predisposition to such acts is immediately tempered by the possibility of his intended victim having a gun.

Just to get it going let me ask a question but first some clarification of question.
I have no interest in removing any 2nd amendment rights in any form shape or matter
nor do I wish to debate the 2nd.

Question; What is a gun owners responsibilities when excersizing ones' right to posses a gun
and if not carried out can they contribute to the alleged violence problem?

Gaffer:

GWB has gone on record as FAVORING the assault weapons ban. As a party, the repubs are unrecognizable as compared to the days of the "Contract with America".

Unlike Amnesty and Cheap labor, I don't think guns are an issue in which teh White House has a real oppinion, an issue they will fight for. They will simply sign whatever comes across their deask on the issue, which would be worrisome if the dems elected this time were not nearly all pro gun.

Oh I agree John that many Republicans are not that supportive of our 2nd Amendment. Our two sob sisters in the Senate are examples, however in general the Dems are anti-gun more times than the Repubs.

In my mind my votes are always swayed by the stand the candidate has on the 2nd Amendment. What is sometimes very disconcerting is to have a Repub candidate reply," What is the 2nd Amendment?" That happened to me just this past year.

But on the whole, as a party, the Repubs better protect the 2nd Amendment than do the Dems.
