The key to union effectiveness is vigilance over the contract. In that respect the vast majority of union workers are activists.There are a few idiots in every organization. It is not fair to any organization to characterize the whole by the actions of a few.The concept of banding together to bargain for a contract of employment is not a bad thing. I own my life and my time. I am not going to let any employer take unfair advantage of me. Those who are apologists for corporations who take unfair advantage of their employees play right into the hands of the collectivist, corporate fascist element that has such a tight control over our economy. These corporate fascists would not be able to survive in truly free markets. They cherish big government and the power it affords them to crush their competition with legislation and regulation.Unions are the not-so-equal, but opposite reaction to this corporate fascism. Governmental power is the beast that ensures extremism on both ends of the spectrum.Reduce the power. Kill the beast.
Wha't going on here? The post title accurately matches the lead to the story cited. Weird, very weird.

The title matches because the events are exagerrated. Fox News was trying to make a big deal of this but the cameras clearly showed the incident was about 10 people yelling at each other and nothing else.Even with the pictures showing nothing they tried to hype it as a riot.Steven Scharf

Our top-notch legal team is also exploring possible civil action.On Saturday, several peaceful Recall Gray Davis protestors were brutally beaten, kicked, punched and tackled to the ground by union workers who were attending a taxpayer-funded workshop, WAR - “Workers Against the Recall.†The violent “WAR†union workshop attendees rushed across J Street in downtown Sacramento – through traffic! – in several waves and attacked the pro-recall protestors.A 20-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were among those who were terrorized.One of four incidents where recall supporters were physically beaten was caught on video by Fox News Channel and the Recall Gray Davis Committee has uploaded a clip of this footage to our website.All told, there were four attacks on our people.
