If this is what you were

If this is what you were holding on to, it was not even worth posting. Scott D'Amboise thinking he will be elected to anything more than selectman is a joke.

He never would have been on the ballot if not for the help of Snowe's organization.

If this is what you held for

If this is what you held for embargo, my theory on the other thread is correct. The story is so lame, he was hoping it would leak to make it a bigger deal. This is a non-story.

Having said that, I think Dan is pretty accurate and unless I am mistaken, I believe Scott campaigned with Olympia at the Potato Blossom Festival when he ran for Congress.

Kinda gives "biting the hand

Kinda gives "biting the hand that feeds you" a bad name. I didn't think anything could make me look forward to voting for Snowe, but here we are.

Now if she'll just stick tight against The Healthscare....

What's the point? I

What's the point? I speculate.

1. Expose Snowe as a crypto-Democrat and drive out of the party, thereby restoring the Democratic supermajority.

2.Now that Snowe has paid heed to the Mass. results and starts voting with the GOP, it's time to remind her that she's a RINO and force her to vote with the majority.

3. Seize on the magic of the name "Scott" in the hope of replacing Olympia with a Scott in 2012.

4. Provide Al Diamon with some entertainment for his next column.

5. Cheer the Democrats up by proving them with a good laugh.

I must be missing something. If 1-5 do not answer the question, then it appears to be pointless.

Seeing this report brings back bad memories.

After donating to D’Amboise’s campaign, I gave $500 to the Maine military plate startup fund. Someone close to D’Amboise criticized me for giving money to this cause and not to D’Amboise. Of course they were wrong, but it left me wishing I had never given to Scott’s campaign.

I am ashamed that my name on this report.

Can I please get a refund?

I don't know squat about him.

But I must say that AMG'ers present quite a gauntlet to run through.

I no longer consider myself "harsh" by comparison.

We agree on much more than you could guess...it is the processes we disagree on...

I do not believe that the ends justifies the means...thats Sol Alinsky...not Dolley Madison...and I believe that comportment makes up for a myriad of sins...poor sportsmanship...arrogance...idiocy...all matter in the end...whatever the principles may be...

He may not be the only one

He may not be the only one running against Snowe. Its great if there is a primary. Wonder why he announced he was running so early? Seems a bit odd strategically to me. Why warn Snowe she is going to have an opponent?

I'm certain the good Senator

I'm certain the good Senator is tracking the incumbent score card, and even she can't be arrogant enough to believe it couldn't happen to her. I wish anyone well who will challenge the status quo. I am more than a little amazed at the animus displayed in this case with regard to the announcement. Is Olympia Snowe now foregiven for all her past sins because she has strung together a few votes we agree with?

No. Are you suggesting that

No. Are you suggesting that people should support any loser who says he wants to run against her?

People know D'Amboise from his run for Congress. He was a terrible candidate. He would not be a strong candidate for the State Senate, let alone the U.S. Senate.

His being in the race helps Snowe because it may discourage a more serious challenger.

Scott posted this on his Facebook page today. Not someone I would ever support for elected office.

Scott D'Amboise Does this surprise any one? Mrs. Nancy P. Hitler now telling Religious leaders what to do.I always new she was an agent of Satan. Now I know what the Grim Reaper looks like without her hood on... Scary stuff folks.

Dan, I was just making sure.

Dan, I was just making sure. I doubt there will be only one challenger running against the good Senator, at least I hope not. He may not have been the ideal candidate when he ran for the 2nd CD seat, but I didn't see anyone else jumping up to take his place. I was at the convention when he spoke and it seemed everyone felt he had a shot at it. I'm just a little baffled at the initial response.

Jim why would you announce

Jim why would you announce this early for 2012? Its just nuts, people are concerned about 2010 not 2012. He is a stalking horse to draw out other candidates prematurely so that the machine can work on wrecking their chances. This is a very ole' tactic in politics, which has been known to work rather well. Hopefully no one falls for the bait and keeps their power dry until a more appropriate time.

Andrew, I'm not as

Andrew, I'm not as politically savy as you and Dan and I also question why someone would announce this early when the focus is clearly on November elections. Maybe he is simply trying to ride the wave of voter discontent with incumbents. If enough incumbents are tossed out in 2010 then maybe Senator Snowe re-thinks 2012. Has she even made a decision about 2012?

He certainly does have an

He certainly does have an early start. I went to the eye doctor yesterday, and when I came out, I had his bumper sticker and a palm card tucked under my wiper.

I suspect it's because of the LePage stickers on my truck; it looked like a "selective" drop.

I still think he is a

I still think he is a stalking horse for Snowe to draw out any other opponents. They might panic that he has "a head-start" and announce. Then she and the machine can churn em' up before it gets anywhere near the deadline for filing. Its actually a clever tactic and was used by John Major in the UK, to his great advantage.

My advice, were I advising a potential candidate, would be to keep schtum until 2011 at the earliest. Distracting from 2010 is bad idea all around.
