I was going to post this in the last Ron Paul thread, but it was getting bloated and this would have been off-topic anyway.

This excerpt is long, but I've obtained email permission to post as much of it as I want.

Excerpt from 7/17/2007 blog entry at RonPaul2008.com:

Ron Paul wrote:
I talked about all our ideas: marching out of Iraq just as we marched in; no more meddling in the Middle East; bringing the troops home, from hundreds of expensive bases all over the world, so that we could have the money we need for the transition to freedom in social programs, and to abolish the personal income tax and the IRS. They are not compatible with a free society.

In a Ron Paul administration, we would also repeal the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act, restore habeas corpus and stop the spying on Americans. No more eavesdropping on our emails and bank accounts, our phone calls, home and businesses. No national ID"”just the bracing freedom of the Constitution.

We must have sound money, and not a giant counterfeiting machine called the Federal Reserve that causes recessions and inflation. We must have private property rights, with no pollution or other attacks on property. We should enforce the Second Amendment, and all the Bill of Rights. We can have privacy for us, not secrecy for a corrupt bureaucracy.

It is all within our grasp, the restoration of the republic and our sovereignty"”no UN, no North American Union, no Nafta, no WTO, no World Bank, no IMF. Just federalism, free enterprise, peace, prosperity, and the kind of future we all want for our families, ourselves, and our fellow Americans.

I'm not entirely sure what he means about "the transition to freedom in social programs", but I understand and support the rest of the message.

What's your plan if Brownback drops out this year? Any chance you'll be joining the military to fight this war that you're so passionate about?

Well done gop!

Does everyone see what he did there? He took a complex issue and boiled it down to a bumper sticker. The exclamation marks were just a gooey frosting on top of an already delicious treat.

Ron Paul has been consistent on his stand opposing an undeclared war to enforce UN resolutions.

As for Brownback; he has flip-flopped on abortion, flip-flopped on amnesty for illegal aliens and supported federal government interference to support his pet religious and "moral" issues like debunking the science of evolution, blocking indian casino developments and funding church social programs.

To find out more about Brownback, check out this web site Anybody but Brownback. The site includes this great photo:

Actually, read his book he has not flipped floped on abortion he has had a constant pro-life voting record!!!!!!!!

NO ONE HAS WORKED AS HARD ON PRO-LIFE ISSUES AS SAM BROWNBACK... I wouldn't try to attack him on this issue if I were you..

Frigging science of evultion.. I did not come from a monkey only fools belevie that... God created us NOT science!

Funding for churches-- Good try having live off the food that comes from churches... I have for at least 3 months..It was not easy....

October 1993 - Tim Golba, Kansans for Life: "Sam had made a statement to me that his position wasn't much different than Nancy Kassebaum's. It was a big red flag." (Kassebaum is pro-choice.)

there very fact that you have to go back to someone all the way from 1993, in addition the fact that person has said he couldn't even recall whether or not the conversion took place back up the point that he has not flip flopped on abortion.. again wrong person to plug as a flip flopper on abortion read his new book and you might get a sense of where he was on abortion back then. He makes it clear in his book that he didn't talk much about pro-life issues at the time but that didn't make him pro-choice..

That was a conversation there is no way to prove that what that person said was actually true..

Darn it. The last thread was infected with the "alantoth" virus, and now this one has developed a bad case of the Brownbacks.

No you didn't you hit the wrong issue, Sam Brownback has a solid pro-life voting record with National Right to Life and you can't even find solid evidence that he is was even pro-choice..Just he said she said stuff..

How about this one: Has Brownback been hanging out with his "family values" comrade David Vitter lately? They must be drinking buddies. Right?

That one is even worse you really are a nut.. I am not even going to try to answer this one because it is not worth it..

Only thing I would say if it were me is show the man that someone cares and understand what he going through...

GOP I'm not entirely convinced you aren't a robot. You usually sound like a Republican National Committee pamphlet. Now you sound like a Sam Brownback pamphlet. Do you actually have your own opinions?

yes...I ran for office and I ran because I believed in what I was running on.. Ask Bob Emrich or even Steven Scharf on this board they will tell you I have opinions they have seen them in action. I sat in a student senate meeting and fought against a gay rights bill because I beleive it was wrong, I did this when no one else in the room was supportive of my position.

So yea I do have my own opinions many of Sam's opinions tend to be the ones I happen to have..

Well since I was the only one in the room that opposed the bill I lost..

But there were others that came to my side but the bill passed.

But it is falase for you to say I have no opinions when I have many how else do you think I completed a political science degree and got an A in philosophy class? .

gopcollegestudent,
I commend you for your work with Sen. Brownback. Keep up the good work.

Tangentially, I appreciate you taking on some of the others on this thread.
It's "good" to see them expressing their opinions; put forth in writing.
I especially like the quote you preserved from Lindell.
Very telling.
Perhaps this attitude of his helped him handily lose his re-election in Frankfort (or rather, I should say his district)?

Okay, GOP. You don't need to defend yourself anymore. You've made your point. I don't want to attack you. It was wrong for me to say what I did in the first place. You get enough beef around here so normally I try to keep my distance from some of the things you say.

Keep working hard for your guy GOP. You deserve kudos for being active and involved. I'll keep working for mine. The important thing is that once our nominee is selected that we all come together and support the ticket.

One thing we can be sure of is that regardless of our differences, whatever the D's come up with will be a horror show.

Image if you will… Its 400 years ago, and we were all sitting around the local village campfire debating (rather than using the wonders of the internet)

Rather than arguing against evolution, I can envision many an AMG member staunchly making the case that the sun revolves around a flat Earth.

Sure if you support my guy if he wins I'll support your guy if he wins...

That could be a big IF for the both of us...

Easy to say after you have spent so much time trashing the "other guys", especially with the nonsense you posted in this thread. I always figured you were above that sort of thing.

By the time you guys get done trashing the primary opponents the democrats will have an easy job in the general election. You have done their work for them already.

There aren't too many people more coldly rational than me on AMG. And I studied science, including geology, paleontology and audited Lynn Margulis's Evolution class at BU. (originator of the eukariotic cell theory of evolution and once the wife of Carl Sagan. I also believe she was helpful to James Lovelock, who came up with the Gaia Theory of Earth behavior).

And I have to tell you, that simpleton characterizations of the people who question Evolution (as simpletons) are among the stupidest and most ludicrous things I am aware of.

Evolution Theory has real problems folks. And its boosters are doing little to increase its credibility.
