Scontras Announces the Support of 100 Small Business Leaders!
First Time Candidate "A Breath of Fresh Air" During Challenging Economic Times
PORTLAND - 1st District Republican Congressional Candidate Dean Scontras announced today that he has received the endorsements of 100 small business leaders (listed below) as a result of his unwavering support for lower taxes and reduced regulations both at the state and federal level. Scontras, who has over 15 years experience in the business of information technology, believes that the best thing that government can do to help Maine's struggling businesses is to get out of the way.
"Maine's small businesses are suffering under the second highest tax burden in America," said Scontras, "and when Maine's small businesses are hurting, the hardworking people who rely on these businesses for stable, reliable employment feel the hurt as well."
"The last thing we need to do is to elect another career politician who will bring the same tax-and-spend ideology to Washington that has ruined what was once a strong and vibrant Maine economy. As Maine's next Congressman, I pledge to fight against the tax-and-spend Washington insider mentality, and give Maine's small businesses and their employees some much needed relief," concluded Scontras.
Scontras has made it a top priority to meet with small business owners across the 1st Congressional District and has participated in a number of downtown walks organized by supportive local business leaders. Roxanne Hagerman, owner of Roxy's Hairport in Bridgton, helped organize a downtown walk for Dean and is excited about Dean's message of hope for Maine's small businesses.
"Scontras is a breath of fresh air and a refreshing change for Maine's small business leaders and their families," said Hagerman. "He takes the time to sit down with folks at their stores and restaurants, and ask them what he can do to help them, their employees and their families make ends meet. Scontras is not a career politician; he's an experienced business leader who understands what's it's like to grow up and raise a family in Maine, and we need more people like him in Congress," concluded Hagerman.
Scontras is committed to earning every vote the old fashioned way, with a firm handshake and a great deal of shoe leather. If you are interested in having Dean visit your small business and speak with you and your employees, please contact Jane Faulkner at (207) 221-3447 or e-mail jane@teamdean08.com.

A very impressive group of supporters. I believe Scontras has the energy needed to be successful -- if he uses that energy going door-to-door meeting ordinary voters and emphasizing the need to improve Maine's economy.
