Sean Spicer Violates Godwin's Law... During Passover

I for one, believe this is a cry for help. We should all take career suicide attempts seriously.

Spicer's stupid remark

Spicer's stupid remark probably wasn't reported on Breitbart or Infowars and it is doubtful Rush included it in his daily blather, so it is unlikely that the Trump-humpers on AMG have heard about it.

Ah, yes, the snarky "gotcha"

Ah, yes, the snarky "gotcha" politics.

Guaranteed to lose every election from the Presidency, the Governorship, even the Lewiston mayor's election.

lol.

Well, if it make you feel smart, then I guess you should keep on doing it.

Not that it will make any

Not that it will make any difference, but the Germans in WW2 did not use chemical weapons. They did use a pesticide to murder millions of innocent civilians, just as they used carbon monoxide (and bullets), but it wasn't "weaponized". There are history books full of discussions about why the Nazis didn't use chemical weapons, with speculations that Hitler having been gassed himself in WW1 hated them, or fears that the Allies would retaliate with their own weapons; there are some historians who believe that the Nazis mistook external aircraft gas tanks for nerve gas canisters.

So, to recap: professional historians have never said that the Nazis used "chemical weapons", quite the opposite; Syria has used "chemical weapons"--bombs specifically designed to carry WMDs; and Spicer was correct in his terminology. Not that it will matter to those who prize the Narrative over silly things like the truth...

The MSM is going ballistic at the slight chance that this small gaffe will damage his credibility.
They should be focusing on their own.

The Liberal/Slime media

The Liberal/Slime media called this a "Gaff of Historic Proportions". I think not. They ignore outright Liberal/Slime lies and perfidy but leap like frogs in heat at any minor misstep by the GOP. What a cesspool we have in the media and we know what floats around in a cesspool...fake journalists is another name for it.

Well

Well
Remember the old days when it was All LePage All the time ?
A hallmark of that era was few would stand up and criticize the words used by Gov. while agreed
with but counter to the cause of support.
Well there is a responsibility on the speaker not to feed the beast , same thing different venue.

This was a mistake by Spicer he fed the beast . The savior is it was a low quality food of little nutritional value he fed them.

You guys can keep living in

You guys can keep living in your alt-right bubble - the real world considers this a gaff of pretty large proportions. Large enough that it triggered the first ever apology by a Trump administration official!

Nonetheless, a comparison to Nazi Germany violates Godwin's law, which means you automatically lose the argument (even if your facts are "technically" correct).

Godwin's law is pure bullshit

Godwin's law is pure bullshit.
Of course, in any conversation involving good and evil, there will eventually be a reference to what is the modern interpretation of pure evil.
The sky is blue is equally applied.
So what?

Most conversations (save philosophical ones) are not about extreme good and evil, they are about real life situations and real life people, who are in most cases attempting to look out for themselves, their families, or their nations.

If you have to compare someone to Hitler to win your argument, then you've moved from a logical argument to attempting to ad hominem attacks.

Obviously if you're *literally* talking about WW2, then sure, Hitler might come up:

In Sean Spicer's case, he well full on Spicer by reversing the comparison. Instead of saying that Assad was as bad as Hitler, he said that Hitler wasn't as bad as Assad. Any time you're saying, "Hiter's not as bad as X," ON PASSOVER, you know you've lost your marbles.

In any event, he should have just kept it at, we don't allow chemical weapons to be used, period. That should be sufficient of an argument - trying to reach for comparisons is unnecessary and cheapens your argument. (I already wrote a few posts to MacKenzie about Godwin's law already, feel free to look them up.)

Here's how you replace Tom C

Here's how you replace Tom C with a Strawman Robot:
1) Take your statement
2) Take an example of leftwing media sensationalism that is clearly bullshit
3) Use 2 to suggest that 1) was also bullshit

If anything, Tom C, your post backs up Godwin's law - that comparisons to Nazi Germany & Hitler are self-destructing arguments.

We need a new law, methinks.

We need a new law, methinks.
How about Ugene's law
Any conversation eventually ends up comparing the opposing loser to Hillary.

AC, not a strawman at all.

AC, not a strawman at all.

I'm merely pointing out the flagrant hypocrisy of the left, and laughing at their pathetic hand-wringing.

lol.

But, hey, don't take my suggestions. Keep doing what you're doing, it's working so great for you.

hahahaha.

No, I simply refuse to recognize the alleged validity of your point. Not to mention, if this was a Democrat like, oh, I don't know, Chris Matthews, this would have been totally ignored by the same people who are putting a blood libel on Spicer.
