FCC awaits feedback on Portland-area broadcasters
June 24, 2007
PORTLAND, Maine --The public will have an opportunity this week to offer feedback to the FCC on how Portland-area broadcasters are fulfilling their public service responsibilities.
In Portland, all commercial TV stations, most radio stations are owned by out-of-state corporations.
Olympia Snowe, advocate for a strong government role in policing the airwaves, said, "I am concerned about the quality of news/information programming in areas like Portland, or anywhere else in our nation that lacks local media ownership."
