The story that refuses to go away, Is Obama a US Citizen?

To the extent that the Obama birth certificate story is a dog chasing its own tail - it's useless, pointless. Now, when/if someone comes forward with new, credible evidence that moves the story forward - great. In other words, the day some reporter produces Obama's official birth certificate proving he is not a natural-born US citizen - great. Until then? Speculating is, to some, a way to kill time. But it doesn't interest me.

Well, we know that's not going to happen, given the fact that the governor has stepped in to make the Hawaii certificate of live birth off-limits to the public.

Ok, wait...I have not been following this story, and my first instinct is to align with Charlie Neville, but forgive me for asking this, aren't birth certificates a matter of public record? Last year, for a trip to Canada, I had to drive to Farmington to get a copy of my birth certificate. I asked the town clerk if she needed to see my ID, and she said, "No, anyone can get a copy of this as long as they pay the fee." So why doesn't someone, anyone, file a simple FOIA request?? Am I missing something?

The problem is, there are a host of different types of 'birth certificates' . When the issue was hot it was pointed out that the state has a variety of forms they call a birth certificate and each contains different information, some to include the hospital where the birth took place. In addition, the legal status of each version varies as to its use. When I got married overseas I had to get a 'certified' as in signed by the states attorney general, copy of my NJ birth certificate. Even that was not an original document but one established for the specific purpose of meeting such a legal requirement. A FOIA demand will get one a copy of what Obama has produced, a vague record.

The issue is and has always been the original document, the one that not only says one was born, but where. If one was a US citizen who gave birth overseas, one could get a Hawaii birth certificate exactly like Obama's on request when one returned to the USA. It proves nothing beyond citizenship, not place of birth.

I think I can finally put the issue at rest now for my own concerns.
I just listened to a radio program hosted by a Rick Wiles. I have listened to him off and on over the last 5 years or so but not often. Just happened to hear him tonight. He had South Carolina senator Jim Demint (who knows or cares on spelling) on the phone and asked him point blank about this birth eligibility issue. Demint replied that no one in congress would be interested in that now as Obama;s people would see it as "grasping at straws". Demint stated that this issue should have been addressed before the election, too late now.
Wiles asked Demint if Obama really was not born here and thus not eligible would it be a big deal. Demint answered Oh Yes, it would be, but thats not important now.
HUH? Heres Demint pushing a book he just wrote and sounding like Newt Gingrich saying all sorts of warm/fuzzy things that he knows Wile's audience wants to hear yet wanting to ignore the main question. Sounds like good cop/bad cop to me. Demint can stand for truth, justice, and the American way (his script that he was assigned to play) that is to pacify us nitwits out here and give us some false hope that in 4 years we can elect Demint to save us. Well folks, from Congress to the SCOTUS, it would appear to be a conspiracy to conceal Barry Satoro's real information. I recently HAD TO send money with documents to New York City to retrieve a certified birth cert for my 89 year old mother in law who wanted to renew her driver's license in this state. Now mind you, she has only lived in Maine for 50 YEARS and her life is an open, documented record of college, marriage, births, taxes, etc., but she was refused a renewal without a certified birth certificate. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!

.....and two more shoes drop....

A controversial suit brought by a U.S. Army reservist has been joined by a retired Army two-star general and an active reserve Air Force lieutenant colonel.

Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook filed the suit July 8 in federal court here asking for conscientious objector status and a preliminary injunction based upon his belief that President Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and is therefore ineligible to serve as president of the United States and commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Call it kooky all you want, it's gaining ground in the military and that ain't good.....for Obama anyways.

Out of curiosity, I've not been able to find any other president in the history of the US who has been sued by enlisted and officers in the US military over his supposed legitimacy as Commander in Chief.

There has only been one other president who has been accused of not being eligible to be president due to the natural born citizen clause. That was Chester Arthur, who didn't actually run for President, and I don't believe he ran a second time.

And there was no war going on, so he did not command the military during his term.

I think.

BTW: If he were adjudged ineligible to be commander-in-chief, he would also be ineligible to appoint a Supreme Court Justice.

Traction slips.

Support of general added to Obama presidential eligibility suit disputed

“Probably it’s some kind of mistake,” Taitz said. “I don’t know what happened.”

Later Thursday afternoon, the person identifying himself as Childers in an e-mail said several months ago he signed a “motion” Taitz filed requesting that a judge unseal specific personnel records, which Taitz thinks will either verify or disprove Obama’s status as a natural born citizen of the United States.

“Not being a lawyer, I was not aware that other subsequent court filings, in such cases as Major Cook, might also tie me to such subsequent cases,” the e-mail said. “I have notified Dr. Taitz that I am no longer a plaintiff in any motion she might process.”

So much for Childers.

As for Cook, what does one make of someone who volunteers in May just so in June he can sue against his deployment? Of course the Army canceled his orders; he was a volunteer.

Obama was not the only person that was running for POTUS that this guestion was raised about. The same was asked about McCain.....by the left. It was determined that even though McCain was born out of the country on a military base, he was born of two US citizen parents.

Obama?? not so much. Even though he was most likely born here, his father was not naturalized or a citizen. On the US Citizen and Immigration Services web site there is a guestion and answer section that asks about this issue of who is eligible to be President. It says that the guestion has never been formally challenged....YET. It goes on to say that if a person accepts campaign finance (from tax payers) that any tax payer could have standing to issue a challenge.

McCain took campaign finance money.
Obama? not so much.

You DO realize that the 'fact checking' services all operate on the facts they have. As Obama has not released his original birth certificate and that is the essence of the case against him, saying there is nothing there is a tad premature.

SCOTUS will never render a decision removing a president from office. Liberal and conservative justices would unite on that question and find some way to dodge around the issue. Too damn divisive. It would drive the Left stark raving mad. I'd have to agree. We are stuck in the same country with those people and I, personally, have no wish to live in a lunatic asylum.

Hello?

You yourself are saying that we are living in a country where the SCOTUS would "dodge" the issue which is probably one of the most important issue they can possibly handle: whether the President of the United States has lied to the American people about his eligibility. Whether the current man in the White House has committed perjury, not about sex with a young woman, but about the very essence of our government.

The commander-in-chief, who makes military decisions and is responsible for making diplomatic decisions on the fly with our allies as well as our enemies.

The chief treaty-signer, whose signature on ANY treaty we must honor in perpetuity.

The economist-in-chief, who reigns over 32 "czars" who are accountable to no one BUT that president; who has the power to order a complete reversal of 300+ years of economic policy; and who has moved our debt higher than all of the previous Presidents COMBINED.

You believe that the SCOTUS would refuse to even entertain looking at his legitimacy?

And somehow you think that irate liberals would make things MORE crazy than this?

All right, all right---I prefer to live in a mad house where I have already adjusted to the gibberish decibel level.

Much as I would like this pest's departure accelerated, I don't foresee any such solution. The Constitution is already so badly mangled why should one expect SCOTUS to suddenly take a stand on such an explosive issue?

FLAMMENWERFER, I don't know, I think I have a huge bowl of popcorn and some spiced cider to drink while watching the libs come unzipped over their Messiah being dethroned over his true birth certificate. If the military keeps up these law suits, it will be interesting to watch.

Should the threat of civil unrest stop the law from being enforced? Interesting question...

Shades of John with numbers and his alter ego, Juan. I thought this was put to bed long ago. But NO!

I suppose it will continue in one form or another for a hundred years. And then never be finally put to rest.

The whole thing plays to the simple fact if there was no problem with the annoited one's citzenship ,he would simply have produced the documentation and tols his critices to stick it in their...... My personal opinion is that the Obamalord is a fraud and he can't produce it......

A birth certificate exists confirming his Hawaiian birth. That a small and vocal minority aren't satisfied by it... Well, that's just the way it is I guess. Life goes on with Obama as President.

Work for change in 2012, but until then...!

It'll take much more than what's on the table now for the SCOTUS to become involved.

Charlie, I realize you don't acknowledge the difference, but what the Obama people put out there was NOT a birth certificate. It was a Certificate of Live Birth, which is part of what has fueled the controversy.

Remember Charlie, we had the 'Bush Lied' canard, the Bush Awol canard, the 'stolen election' canard, etc, etc etc...it never ended and goes on till this very day with the latest, 'the CIA lied' blaming Cheney....

What the Obama people put out there is very similar to my birth certificate which has served me well for near 60 years now. It lists:
My given name
The city where I was born, and the date
My father and mothers names
The state in which each was born
The date the record was filed with book and page number
The health officers stamped signature
Date and location of the recent issuance
The signature of the registrar of vital statistics

Would you dispute my qualifications to be president based on this information provide?

If your state offered a half dozen different documents all called a birth certificate and it was widely known that your folk had been out of the country right before your birth and you refused to produce the original document, then yes, your qualifications would be in question...

This "Original Document" exists where?

Guess mine and his are to me original documents proving birth in a particular place, at a particular time, of particular parents.

In Hawaii the original is marked original and dates (as opposed to is dated) from the actual event. The copy that obama produced was decades newer....
