Surgery? Not so fast!

Yes, your surgery is next on the eco-chopping-block.

This is literally stunning. They just now figured out people travel to hospitals...

F*ck the footprints. I was born with Jethro Bodine vision that served me well until my late 40s. It's slow deterioration taught me plausible 'not getting any younger' deniability. Alas, while my arms were in great shape from constantly adjusting for focal point, I could no longer cheat my way through an eye chart exam.

I have had cataract surgery twice. The first round, which included intraocular lenses, only lasted four years before the cataracts returned. The second round was straight razor . . I mean straight laser . . and has been great; 20/15, every two years for 10 years running. I do need reading glasses (cheap cheaters) that I did not (squinted a lot) need prior and the holes they shot through the back of my head have healed nicely.

If you're considering it, I vote yes. Then, sit down with your favorite HDTV and witness the splendor of planet evolution and climate change on full, brilliant display now in Hawaii.

This is a classic example of

This is a classic example of not taking scale seriously.

1 cubic meter of concrete produces 410 kg of CO2. There is a lot of concrete in the world, especially in places that are rapidly developing.

Changing building practices is a much bigger deal than cataract surgeries.

What troubled me was the lack

What troubled me was the lack of comparative analysis.

People going to hospital generate carbon. But if they weren't doing that, they'd be doing something else... also generating carbon.

It's the DELTA which should be looked at, not the isolated action.
