Taxation Hero: ExxonMobil Pays $3 In Taxes For Every $1 In Profit
....That’s right, since its emergence as a unified company, ExxonMobil has paid governments around the world more than $1 trillion. That’s more than double its net cash flow over the same period and almost three times its profits of $352 billion.
Think about what this means: For every dollar in profits it earns for its shareholders, ExxonMobil earns nearly three dollars for governments.
Good article from Forbes and skewers the progressives assault on businesses.
Can't believe no one's touched this.
I could spend two hours going over how our whole world is tied together, in oil.
But, Lets just give it what it is.
The dirty, greedy, enviro hating, mean oil companies are paying taxes.
Well no kidding, really?
So if their paying that then, lets tax the pump too.
(sarcasm)
Lets double dip (Taxes) on the same product.
If I was a builder and you taxed my hammer, saw, and me.
Then you tax the out come, the building- oh wait maybe they do that.
How could you pay me to build your house?
How would I do business?
Do you suppose I could pass it on to the consumer?
NO.
Next guy (Canada) would beat me every time- he's cheaper.
Bottom line, what we've learned here is that the mean ass oil companies aren't the problem.
It's the dirty, lying politicians that are the problem (aka government causing more taxes).
Looks just like those mean ass oil guys.
Oh sorry, I left out the news to tell us the story straight. Not
My point is them son's of guns have found a way to tax every part of our lives and looking for new ones.
Other countries are getting ahead (for more reasons than this)
But, why kick us while we are down already.
Drop the taxes on the pump, they get enough already.
So, Burdock, I assume that you would be against a VAT tax?
Absolutely,
VAT tax not going to happen, we hope.
I just saw another job gone from us 'Mainers" gone to Texas of all places.
Seems UMO is all set with getting southern work up here instead of us.
And, you guy's can say what you want or check it out.
They are building a couple of off site dorms with a lot of Hispanic help, I'm told Mexican.
Neither here or there, given it's a Texas outfit.
But, how did we loose this contract again?
We can't compete...
I love Taxes politics- but FU- not so I can let them take our jobs.
Maybe this confusing to some of you, but we who do jobs for a living are scared.
There is no work.
Oops not the point of the thread.
I did see that article
I also read this one

We as a country have no reason to depend on anyone else.
It's only the politicians that bring us down to the level we are.
We as a state only are brought down to the level we are due to these same politicians.
Our Governor, is our best defense against this take over.
How can I help?

Can you share a link with that story?
Perhaps through a competitive bid process? Isn't that the way the work SHOULD be awarded? How big would Cianbro, or Reed and Reed, etc. be if other states didn't let them in to work on construction projects?
And what's wrong with Mexicans working in Maine, or is there something you know about the Mexicans that you're hiding?
PS So ExxonMobil paid more tax than they made profit? Welcome to the world of business. I have years when I don't make any profit, and I still pay taxes.
How liberals acknowledge truth:
ExxonMobil paid 3 to 1 taxes to profits but did not pay their fair share!
Every dollar a company pays out has to be recovered through the price you pay for their product or service. Taxes companies pay to governments are just one one of them along with the cost of their labor, raw materials, etc. If they paid no taxes they could either sell the prduct or service to you for less or their investors could make more profit. Why does the government continue to need more money? It provides more and more services that most of us never agreed the government should provide and to people who haven't earned them.
Sorry Bob,
News is not covering that.
I got it from a guy, that was on the job yesterday.
He was one of the lucky ones who got a couple of day's work.
Yes that's how it Should work, I guess.
Just hate seeing local work going away.
I did come off strong on the Mexican thing, I tried not to.
I try not to be that way.
Some of us will do those jobs, just can't feed our family on that pay.
And, we can't compete with that.
That's why our shirts are made in third world slave shops.
I think the news mentioned something about that.
Not just Exxon doesn't give enough, we don't either.
That's why we pay taxes on every thing we do.
They tax us on the money before we get it and after we use it.
VAT tax? We're already there.
Just called by other names.
IAC spin= " but not paying their fair share."
LOL, so true, so true.
Now I want to ask, of the one trillion paid "world wide", how much was paid to USA and how does that compare with the business volume they did here?

To put it in perspective, a local saw mill pays property taxes every year whether they make a profit or not. The same is true for a hardware store, car dealer or bakery. During the lean years Old Town Canoe paid its property taxes. They adapted. Wooden canoes are still made in Maine, but there are thousands of kayaks made for every wooden canoe.
