Then Doug from Ripley called in and said, "I've heard just about all of this garbage that I can stand!" You pretty much hit the nail right on the head and then followed up with the right questions regarding his "businesses". What a phony that guy was! As Bob Dylan might say, "Ya don't need a climatologist to know which way the wind blows. I wonder who hires climatologists anyway - perhaps folks who wish to promote the notion of global warming.

I did sort of get the impression that we ruffled a few feathers out there with the Lou McNally interview. Please know that it was not our intent to offend or alienate any of our listeners, most of whom we knew were not going to see things "Altitude Lou's" way. So here's the scoop, folks; The main premise that Kevin and I operate under is that our audience may be any number of things - certainly a collection of unique individuals (including a couple who might arguably be considered "weird") but one thing they AIN'T - is stupid. As a matter of fact, if someone was to conduct a survey, I would fully expect to find that the WLOB listening audience is among the best educated, well informed, politically and socially active groups in this Nation. Most of the idiots hereabouts, we figure, won't be listening to Ray & Ted or Kevin and I to begin with; the few that have come out of their drunken stupor from the previous evening are probably watching cartoons on TV, downloading porn, playing video games on their PC or Gameboy, or other such things by which idiots typically entertain themselves. Our fans have brains and don't mind using them . We consider it a blessing and privilege to be part of what WLOB is doing here in the State of Maine, and fully expect greater things to come as Atlantic Coast Radio continues to gain a position of leadership in the talk / news market here in Maine. Already, we are finding out that we are breaking and discussing controversial issues that the rest of the media either hasn't found out about yet, or doesn't dare to deal with. Our audience keeps growing, as word that WLOB is the place to be for cutting edge information and discussion gets around. Media bias is something that we freely admit, if not advertise and celebrate; although generally identified (and correctly so, I think) as a "conservative" program, Kevin and I claim to be members of the "Pragmatic Realism" party - which Kevin sort of spontaniously invented one Morning, as I recall. In other words, if anything like a program, ideology etc. - works, then we like it regardless of who came up with it. Conversely, if something does not deliver as advertised and/or is doing the People a disservice, like DIRIGO or the DHHS, we will pull no punches on our criticism and look for ways to fix it. In our pursuit of knowledge, wisdom and understanding, we often feature a rather eclectic assortment of guests and examine a diverse array of topics.
Some of these guests and topics will not be particularly resonant or compatible with the opinions or ideology of many of you in our audience, or even with us for that matter.
But we occasionally give them a forum on our show in order to stimulate thought and discussion, and to provide some understanding as to what other folks think and why. If we didn't have confidence in our audience's intelligence and strength of conviction, we would surely be more selective and discriminating in our selections, so as not to accidentally have any of you get converted over to the dark side. Essentially, we consider you to be sufficiently mature so as to not need all that much "protection". The Truth, we reckon, is "Self evident" as our Founders claimed, and quite capable of withstanding rational, critical examination and questioning.
Falsehoods and deceptions, behind their facade of spin and rhetoric however, are generally pretty flimsy. That is why the purveyors of illusion usually feel that it's necessary to exersize their power in order to silence or crush any evidence or opinion contrary to their myths. This is why they don't want Bibles or the Pledge of Allegiance in our public schools, and won't allow Terillyn Simpson's "Common Sense Independent" in government buildings.
This is why conservative speakers are shouted down or physically attacked on college campi. Roaches dare not deal with the Light. The Light, however, need not fear the roaches, if you get my metaphorical drift. Neither does WLOB need to be afraid of "liberals" or anyone else with an alternative ideology or agenda. And we really don't think that you, our audience, needs to be protected from them. Au contraire'; in most instances our "lib" guests need protection from YOU! You see, "our side" does not need to silence or subvert our opposition like they do. In time, their lies and errors will evidence themselves as well, at least to those who have yet to be thoroughly brainwashed and are paying any attention at all. And in order to articulately refute an assumption, such as "global warming", it behooves us to build a foundation of knowledge about the subject at hand.
Now Dr. Lou, PhD, is anything but an "idiot", and I found his explanation of how ocean currents and air masses move about and their effect of climate etc. quite interesting. You might have noticed, however, that he admitted that no one really knows just how much impact human activity has on this "global warming" phenomenon.
When I inquired as to how much of a change in this "warming" trend would occur if we were to "shut down civilization", he really didn't have an answer for us, did he? Now we didn't have to beat up on him (that's our Caller's job!) but at the end of the program, I sort of sensed that he knew he'd pretty much been had. And I'm confident that most of our audience sensed that, too. You may recall our similar treatment of Sen. Ethan Strimling a while back when we were examining the "Assault Weapons Ban". Now Sen. S. is not a particularly popular figure amongst conservative circles, but we gave him a mike and let him have at anyway. Although we were cordial with him (not always easy, to be sure), at the end of the day I think that there was little doubt that as brilliant and articulate as he is, he'd been intellectually bested - and that pretty much by our audience.

We didn't have to beat up on him; we just sat back and let him shred his own credibility on the air. So, Doug and anyone else out there who might occasionally get the impression that we are capitulating to the opposition; I think that if you'll just stay tuned and wait it out, you'll ultimately find that not to be the case at all. And don't be afraid to call in and confront them yourselves; we couldn't do this without you!"Uncle Jaque"

The system worked, Jaque. You had a faux businessman on your program, and a real businessman called in and outed him. I've really enjoyed your program the last few weeks. Regarding global warming: I think it was Mike Soloman who mentioned that this area was formerly underneath a very thick sheet of ice. I'm not old enough to remember it, but am pretty sure it melted well before the opening of the SD Warren or other industrial facilities.
