Trump uses POTUS platform for financial gain

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/02/08/trumps-nordstrom-attack-blurs-politics-an...

Sorry, but this is not ok.

1) Shouldn't he be busy running the country?
2) If you want to blast Nordstrom, have a surrogate do it
3) Retail is hyper competitive. If something isn't selling, they have every right to axe it.

Though ironically this might give Nordstrom a boost with the anger on the left.

Though ironically this might give Nordstrom a boost with the anger on the left.

Not really, it's conservatives that spend the money. Look at Chik-Fil-A. Compare that to Macy's: Macy stock chart vs retail industry.

Or, if you think men should be able to use the ladies room in clothing stores - look at Target. (Chart: Target compared to retail - last year)

Liberals never protest with their own money.

3) Retail is hyper competitive. If something isn't selling, they have every right to axe it.

Actually, very recently the Nordstrom CEO said the brand was doing well:

Nordstrom’s had previously taken a neutral approach to boycotters’ calls for the company to discontinue carrying the brand. An internal email sent last November 21 from company co-President Pete Nordstrom to employees affirmed they would continue carrying the brand, of which he wrote, “[It] has grown to be a sizable and successful business,” according to Fortune

Exclusive — Women Nationwide Cut Up Nordstrom’s Cards, Plan Boycotts After Political Decision to Drop Ivanka Trump Line

This was a political boycott by Nordstrom. They will reap the whirlwind.

The Target boycott didn't start until the end of November 2016 and they haven't reported earnings for the last quarter. A graph of the stock price over the last year literally means nothing.

Chik-fil-A is not a public company. It's also in a completely different industry.

What exactly am I supposed to be comparing? Data that isn't public against data that isn't public yet?

How often do you hear

How often do you hear Nordstrom publicly announcing to the world when they remove some vendor from their shelves...NEVER. This was a political play to punish the daughter for the perceived sins of the father. The memo the executives of Nordstroms sent to employees condemning Trumps temporary suspension of immigrants just two days before they pulled Ivanka's line was just a co-incidence.

Trump defended his daughter against some Liberal pukes....GOOD FOR HIM!

Oh, the LL Bean President simply cannot help himself. He is a committed Lefty/Swine and just cannot keep his mouth shut. He sent a memo to employees saying they LL Bean will help any employee who has relatives affected by the "ban". First the Leftist/Swine wanna boycott them and now the Righty folks will do it. Stock value may suffer from their stupidity.

Target boycott started when

The Target boycott started when they said men could go into the ladies room. That was back in May 2016. Geeze, louise.

Chik-Fil-A is great. They are opening stores everywhere. Everyone loves them, except a few loopy liberals.

Norstrom did something stupid. They will now pay the stupid tax.

I thought The Donald was focused on preventing another Bowling Green massacre. Instead he’s bitching about Ivanka not being able to sell dresses at Nordstrum. He should stop his whining and at least try to be a President.

Anyone remember when Harry Truman went postal on the critics when they panned Margaret's piano concert? Trump may be president but he is still a father.

On that we can agree. He doesn't need to be throwing more little shiny things for the media rats to run off with. Suzie could have fielded that one for him.

Regardless, your headline was a bit misleading. I'm guessing that's the kid's money. I expected this to be about the Pentagon leasing space at Trump Tower.

I can just imagine the first hack who walked into that place and thought 'Hey, hey! This place ain't too shabby!'

Unless Trump had shorted the Nordstrom stock and then railed against the company I don't see how Trump benefited from his tweet> If the formers is false, his family actually lost because they now get no profit from the sales of his daughters line. Even if it is picked up by someone else the whole thing is a wash.

Nordstrom on the other hand has just gotten a lot of publicity at no cost and if had shorted its own stock before announcing they were dropping Trump's line the could have conceivably made a nice profit on the move.

@pmconusa: By attacking & siccing his followers on a company that doesn't give his company or his family's business interests favorable deals, he is essentially saying that anyone that doesn't give his family & business favorable access is subject to attack by 40% of American citizens.

Let's say the Trump Organization is negotiating a deal to stock his hotels with sheets. You're a well known producer that sells sheets, and his organization says, "I'd like to start paying less for sheets." What are you going to do, say "no" and risk 40% of America attacking you?

This is corruption at an extreme level, and is flat out disgusting.

Update:https://www.wsj.com

Update:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/sales-of-ivanka-trump-footwear-apparel-fell...

From TFA:
"Amid calls to boycott the brand, Ivanka Trump footwear and apparel sales fell more than 70% in the second, third and fourth weeks of October compared with a year ago, the Nordstrom data show. The declines have moderated somewhat since then, averaging 26% year-over-year in January. Nordstrom, which didn’t provide the data, declined to comment on the figures.
...
At Nordstrom, Ivanka Trump footwear and apparel sales totaled $14.3 million in the fiscal year ended in January, down from $20.9 million in the previous year, according to the data reviewed by the Journal. The sales fell in 45 of the 52 weeks.
...
The brand’s decline at Nordstrom occurred even as the chain’s overall sales rose in a difficult retail market. Total sales increased 7.2% to $3.5 billion in the quarter ended Oct. 29, and gained 3% to $10.2 billion in the nine month period."

What's relevant here is that Donald essentially tanked his daughter's brand when the GrabThemByThePussy tape came out. If you think about it, his supporters aren't the kind of people who are 1) women and 2) live in large cities.

(Let's face it, this:

is not the kind of think you wear in rural Kansas, regardless of how awesome your taste might be.)

Now, one might argue, it was a worthwhile price to pay to fix the country, but if you know you're tanking your brand, why not sell high and divest before taking office? (Unless there wasn't a buyer....)

He was expected to divest when taking office anyway, not sure how that would be a firestorm. It was more controversial that he *didn't* divest.

Why should Trump not benefit

Why should Trump not benefit from his position? Every other Congressman who has been reelected has profited from their position in one way or another, some of it legal and most of it illegal but forgiven by the lack of prosecution. Hillary is a classic case of the latter. Even if she is prosecuted and is found guilty she can't return the money because it is or will shortly be spent. Shades of Bernie Madoff.
