On top of the 450 million rounds purchased a while back, they are purchasing more. Why???? I know the link is from Alex Jones, but in the piece there are numerous links to government web sites backing this up. Hope you are preparing yourselves.

750+450, that's almost four rounds per citizen.

not to worry friends, it is just another conspiracy theory, nothing more.

just because it is documented and will go forward using taxpayers dollars to pay for the bullets I assure
you that it is for totally benevolent purposes. Anyone who says otherwise is just a nut. case closed.

It is obvious that this is not the gentle government your grandparents used to know. It appears that government is preparing for some chaotic times and one wonders where we citizens will be when this all happens. It also appears that both law enforcement band the military are ramping up for some riots and similiar civil unrest. It does not bode well!

I'm hearing that DHS has a beef with the National Weather Service.

I'm holding out for the best of all possiblities, that Federal Agencies will war against each other and State Agencies. Sort of like a war between the 5 families. Crips vs Bloods. You get the picture.

Will solve a lot of our problems.

The caliber of ammo is mostly used by LEOs .40 s&w, 12 gauge buckshot, .223, 45 acp, 38,357mag, 357 sig 10mm pistol ammo a bit of 308s. Not your typical army issue rounds.

I have to wonder how where they are going to house and distribute this ammo. Meaning do they actually think that this ammo is going to be secure should the shtf. Where do they think this ammo will be used going door to door, no knock entries. Should they do some crackdown do they expect us to wait for them to show up at our house.

Meaning we are a nation of riflemen in mostly a wooded environment at least in many parts, they going to spray and pray our backyards with pistol ammo while we shoot at them with scoped deer rifles. How many LEOs would be left standing and why would they ever think that LEOs would cooperate in such a suicide mission?

Should we fear that some secretary working for the NWS is going to join forces and take on riflemen after a quick course on the range with her/his 40s&w.

Would they completely disrupt and destroy their nation to make the point that they are idiots?

Now that is what some in government might think, but it is a false premise on their part, because it is not the amount of ammo that wins the fight, but it is the number of people shooting back that wins the fight. 20 to 100 rounds would do just fine.

And anyone should know this, unless you are a Chicagoan idiot. Are we supposed to be impressed by the fact that the government has a billion rounds of ammo with only a million people or less to shoot it?

How many rounds aimed or not can they figure will do the job? Have they learned nothing from past conflicts?

Its a bluff, take just the number of people who applied for moose permits in this state and they would quickly decide otherwise.

You know it I know it and they know it.

It's the number of people shooting back accurately that wins the fight. One accurate shooter will outgun a number of sprayers.

Exactly and while I own a few handguns, I consider them just self defense weapons something within reach. The only reason why I would buy a 40s&w would be that the government has planned to give me access to many rounds through their ammo supply. I'll stick with the few rounds to other calibers I have, and I'll leave those 40 calibers to others.

You're all missing the forest for the trees. The simple reason is that some congressperson's constituents produce the ammo and need another infusion of your money to stay afloat so that the companies in Mississippi and Maine can build more destroyers to kill Taliban rebels in Afghanistan, etc., etc.

It's nothing for an agent to qualify annually with 1,000-2,000 rounds. If you're training someone, it's a lot more, plus the trainees. I mentioned in another thread that US Coast Guard is part of DHS and they use a lot of ammo to train.

I'm not an expert in firearms and ammuntion consumption, but I would think training with hollow points is a waste of taxpayers money, especially if they are working targets on a range. Wadcutters or even fmj's would likely be less expensive. Then, again, there's the theory that one will shoot like one trains. That said, it is clear that I should train more.

Seems homeland security is getting more sensitive about releasing how much ammo they are buying.

Link shows .223 62 gr ammo being bought from federal, now here they are getting serious no more piddling handgun ammo

You'd have to shoot off a thousand rounds a million times to use a billion rounds of ammo.

Maybe we'll be able to pick this stuff up cheap as "government surplus" in the future, like the 30-06 Korean that was on the market a few years ago.

That was good stuff, very consistant. I wish I'd stocked up on it. I went through what I picked up in no time at all, it seems.

Do they really want to start a war with the same people that fought their wars? Gene pools really getting shallow.

Yep, I agree.

Purchase millions of rounds of ammo, put it in storage for years. Claim its too old to use. Throw it away. Repeat.

They are buying up ammo to keep the price out of the reach of fence sitters. They can't stop you from buying guns, so they want to make the price of ammo high enough that the middle of the road sheep won't spend their money on it. Since it isn't the govs. money they will buy ALL the ammo any company makes and will pay top dollar. It would be bad capitalistic practice to sell it to civilians for less. SAVOO

All kidding aside, this ought to wake you up. Maybe there is something really big just down the road? When the checks stop going out, anger, violence and chaos will ensue. Just saying! Didn't Bernanke recently allude to another big crisis on the horizon?
