DESERT SPRINGS - For years local wildlife officials...fought to save the endangered fish species...in the Virgin River...
Crews recently completed work on a $300,000, six-foot high concrete "fish barrier" in the Virgin River Gorge, effectively blocking invasive species...from climbing into the Southern Utah section of the river, ...where the Virgin River Chub and...Woundfin thrive.
The two species were virtually wiped out...recently...when invasive species...swam upstream...and started to displace the natives.
