YES, VIRGINIA, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS

Virginia, your friends are wrong. They have failed to recognize the true fiction in the disguise of a fat, white bearded, jolly old man in a red suit. They say he doesn’t exist because the North Pole is a cold barren wasteland and reindeer really cannot fly. They say he is a fiction because it is impossible for any one man to dispense that much largess to so many people. Their little minds have failed to comprehend the reality that has been evolving for over 200 years.

Santa Claus is alive, well and growing in Washington, D.C. and in all the state capitals, city, and town halls throughout the nation. In Washington alone are 535 elves, who, though they may argue as to how, are there to respond to what they believe are your wants and needs. The Management is there to make sure the work of the elves is implemented and makes suggestions of its own as to what they should do. They also dispense coals to those who are naughty. Nine wise persons make sure the work rules are followed. If you are unhappy with their performance, you can replace all except the wise persons, but your choices are severely limited. Most get to stay, provided they fulfill your wishes or promise you more.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might just as well not believe there is an honest politician. You can look in your room, the kitchen, the yard, the barn, down the street and always in your pocket. Just because you don’t see him, I guarantee he is there, and everywhere.

No Santa Claus? He lives and will live forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10,000 years from now, he will be there. As long as there is a need for someone to protect us from ourselves, to see we are let down gently from our misfortune by denying self reliance, and to make us dependent by stealing our freedom he will live. Santa Claus lives because he is Government.
